About Get up! Exercise Reminder

Hours at a desk add up — and sitting too long is its own health risk. Get Up! is a free macOS menubar timer that reminds you to stand, stretch, and move throughout your workday. It lives in the menu bar, not the Dock: a quiet countdown until your next movement break.

Menubar timer, zero clutter

Left-click to start or pause. Right-click for settings. No dock icon, no dashboard, no social feed — just a timer that stays out of your way until it is time to move. When the countdown hits zero, Get Up! suggests a desk-friendly exercise with clear reps and duration.

Exercise snacks at your desk

  • Air squats — 20–30 reps in one minute
  • Push-ups — 15–20 reps
  • High knees — 1–2 minutes running in place
  • Lunges — 10–15 per side
  • Mountain climbers — 45–60 seconds
  • Plank holds — 1–2 minutes
  • Jumping jacks — 30–40 reps
  • Burpees — 10–15 reps
  • Wall sits — hold for one minute
  • Shadow boxing — one-minute burst

Every suggestion needs no equipment and fits beside a standing desk or office chair.

Features for a real workday

  • Customizable duration — set intervals from a few seconds up to two hours
  • Snooze — delay an alert with configurable snooze time and a snooze limit
  • Scheduled daily start — auto-start the timer at the same time each morning
  • Launch at login — Get Up! begins with your Mac so you never forget to enable it
  • Sound alert — an audible cue when the timer reaches zero

Frequently asked questions

Does Get Up! show in the Dock?
No. It is a menubar-only app — the timer icon sits next to your Wi-Fi and clock, not in the Dock.
Can I snooze a break if I am in a meeting?
Yes. Snooze with a duration you choose. A snooze limit keeps the feature honest so breaks do not slip away all day.
Will the timer start automatically each morning?
Yes. Set a scheduled daily start time and pair it with Launch at Login for a hands-off routine.
Do I need gym equipment?
No. Every suggested exercise is bodyweight-only and doable at a desk or in a small office space.
Is Get Up! free?
Yes. The full menubar timer and exercise reminders are free on Mac.
